Stolen Property Policy

Updated 2024

In compliance with the Federal Privacy Act and HIPPA laws, we are not at liberty to disclose any information about items sold to us or the terms by which these may have been sold to us, other than to the Seller or with his permission.

If, as a private party, feels items we bought as scrap metal/jewelry, may belong to you and were sold illegally, you have the following options:

1.  If you come in with the party who sold us the items and that Seller gives us permission, you may buy the items back at the price we paid for them; provided we have not sold or scrapped the items to a smelter.

2. You may file a police report with the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s office and have the police come with you here; then identify and claim the items as yours; provided we have not sold or scrapped the items to a smelter.  We will then file the police report against the Seller.

3. You may file a police report, request that police have us “HOLD” the items for 15 days while they investigate the sale; provided we have not sold or scrapped the items to a smelter.

All scrap gold/silver or other precious metal jewelry items are held at Appalachian Gold LLC until sold or sent to a smelter.

It is our policy to cooperate fully with our customers and the local authorities.  You are encouraged to contact us if we can assist with questions relating to this subject.
